Science Nights!

  • Tuesday, January 27: Grades 3-5, 6:30 PM
  • Thursday, January 29: Grades K-2, 6:30 PM
Students are in for a real science treat! Students are invited to attend with a parent to see some exciting demonstrations! Due to limited space and resources required by these activities, we are requesting one parent or guardian per student. Registration forms have been sent home, please ensure these are returned by January 23rd to reserve a spot for this fun family event! Contact your teacher for more information.

Calling all 5th Graders! Middle School Open House Dates

It's that time of year where are 5th graders are planning their journey to Middle School. LCS has a number of middle school magnet programs which can be found on the Leon County School Choice web site: www.leonschools.net/domain/244. Listed here are the middle schools that Gilchrist zoned students would transition to:

Treasure for Tree House Coin Collection: February 2-6

Gilchrist will be partnering with Prime Meridian Bank in the annual Treasure for Treehouse change collection. Students will receive small drawstring bags to fill with spare change in an effort to support children ages 2-12 that are brought to Tree House. For more information on this organization, please visit www.treehouseflorida.org.

Prime Meridian will be offering a class pizza party to the one class per grade that raises the most money and the class raising the most money over all will receive a $100 donation for classroom supplies. Prime meridian will also recognize Gilchrist students at the event as well and the total amount collected on their electronic billboard.

Student Council Needs Your Help

Non-Fiction Challenge: Begins January 12th

Attention students in grades 3-5: January 12th begins this semsters Non-Fiction Challenge. Flyers were sent home on the 9th, reading logs are available from your teacher as well as in the media center. Prizes—along with appearances with the Principal—will be given for each milestone achieved.   • Find your students text book online. Under our Media Center Tab – Online Resources (http://www.gilchrist.leon.k12.fl.us/mediaresources.html) you will find the McGraw-Hill link for the Wonders Language Arts Program, Think Central For Math & Science along with a number of useful enrichment programs such as IXL for math.
  • Community Happenings: Offerings from local partners, such as Texas Roadhouse, World Ballet, Barnes & Noble, Scholastic Books, Winter Break Camps, and more.
  • Many pages throughout the website are updated regularly. Please check out our Media Center page to see their latest newsletter. Please also check back regularly to the SAC/SITE/SIP/SPAR page for important school information such as the school improvement plan, School Public Accountability Reports, School Grades and minutes along with a meeting schedule for our SAC committee.
